High School Students Rock!

We are so glad you are here!  Today, we celebrating senior Amy Mireles!  Her rodeo painting has earned Amy over $20,000 toward her college education.  She is so blessed by God's provisions and thrilled her painting is to hang forever more in the Rodeo's Cowboy Church!
Also, if you ever need to uplift your week stop by either the MS or HS chapels on Thursdays in the new Student Life Center.  The high school chapel begins with pledges led by Student Council officers; followed by the weekly news report from the KSAC News Team.
Before the weekly speaker, our Praise & Worship team leads a time of praise.  God has blessed our students with so many talents!

Hope everyone has a blessed weekend and please join us on the blog next week for more up to the minute reports!

Blessings!!

Let's Rodeo!

It's that time of year again....Rodeo Time!  With the chilly Cowboy Breakfast behind us, we  move on toward the main events and SACS students will once place a huge role in the Western Art Division!

Thirteen students from SACS High School chose to participate and all thirteen placed in the competition!  Pretty amazing...since there were over 525 entries from Texas students!

New art teacher, Sara Oppelt, is so proud of Senior Amy Mireles who was first place in the top 25 and who will have her painting auctioned this Thursday..it has been hanging in the Briscoe Museum of Western Art, downtown, waiting for the auction.

Cristina Anderson (12) and Mia Venden (11) placed first in the top 50...also, had their paintings hanging in the museum downtown and are eligible to apply for the Western Art Academy in Kerrville.

Darby Blagg (12) and Jessica Dixon (9) placed first in the top 100 and may attend the Western Art Academy in Kerrville.

Other awards included:

Grace Ramseur (11): 3rd place

We hope some of our families will attend the auction..bid on Amy's painting...and help her with her scholarship fund for college!

Congratulations to everyone!

Time In The Garden

When SACS first opened on Redland Road almost fifteen years ago, the leadership desired a place on this beautiful property for prayer and worship.  Though small, the Prayer Garden was born.
In those days, it was common to see one or more of our students sitting before the cross in prayer.  The garden became a place of peace, refuge, and to meet the Lord.
When my oldest son was in eighth grade, one of his classmates was severely injured in a hunting accident.  His class met in the Prayer Garden and hit their knees on behalf of a friend they had known since kindergarten.  He was family.  The young man took a turn for the best as our prayers were answered.
That same son met his future wife in high school at SACS, and would return after their college graduation, to go his knees in the prayer garden and say, "In this place where we met, before God, I would like to ask you to be my wife."

SACS has always been a place for family and worship.  Let us all pray daily without ceasing and remember to visit the garden.

Since the Cold Is Coming, Here Are Activities

We are watching the skies for the approaching cold front, and if ice hits the roads, then make sure you watch your phones.  Dr. Walters will determine by 6 AM on Friday if school will be open.  If we are to close, then watch phones, emails, and Edline News Friday morning....and, of course, your local news.

For those parents inside, get under a warm blanket, grab some hot chocolate (extra marshmallows, please) and make sure you do these two things for your students:

Re-enrollment is now in progress. The re-enrollment deadline is January 31st at 4:00 p.m. If you have not received your email with the link to re-enroll please call Karen Burrows in the Central Office.(210)340-1864 ext. 408.

A homework survey was sent out this week to all Middle School and High School families. If you have not received your survey e-mail please check your junk email or call Christy Mitchell at (210)340-1864 ext. 414 to have the survey resent.

Stay warm everyone and have a cozy weekend (of course, send your friends to the SACS Open House...we will have warm drinks)!

Tell Your Friends!!

Our annual school-wide open house is a great opportunity to invite friends, families, co-workers and neighbors to come check out SACS!
Elementary, Middle and High school teachers will be here to talk with one-on-one, all of our principals and administration will be on hand and we will have amazing student servant-leaders who will be giving personal guided tours at each school.
If you are a currents SACS family, this is also a great time to check out the next step in your student’s educational journey if they are moving from 5th to 6th or 8th to 9th grade.  We know it's cold on Friday, but we will be here Saturday with coffee, hot chocolate, and all the warm smiles of our teachers and staff!
We want families like YOU so spread the word and come join us on January 25th!
They will discover great opportunities for their children...
